Alice Swap

My friend Dee Dee and I are participating in and Alice Swap. We have been wanting to do one for a while. When we hear that the Graphic 45 Alice paper was at The Crafty Scrapper, we ran over before our retreat and then got busy.
Dee Dee had a fabulous idea to share swap some tags. These are the big boy tags that have some serious room for embellishing. I don't know which tag is my favorite....but I am always partial to the Mad Hatter. Probably because my Little Luke was the most precious Mad Hatter and then Sam had a wonderful time with his hand me down costume.

I inked these tags repeatedly and stamped them. Then I had fun tearing up paper and inking it. When I made the Queen tag, I can't help but picturing a little Rachel Rike yelling out, "All Ways are My Ways!" or "Get to the Part Where I Loose My Temper!"

This paper is mega cute with the Halloween additions. The Hatter is holding candy corn. The Queen has horns and a tail. Alice has a wicked, cool hat.

Now the Cat....he is just creepy to me.

I like the Rabbit. He is a tad neurotic. But, I really like that he wants to be punctual.

I had such a great time making the tags. I really didn't want to give them up. I took the pictures so I can recreate them for myself if I ever have enough time.

Soar

This is an album I made for my principal that highlights her first year as a principal and our brand new school. It is filled with as many pictures as I could put in of her son and her during the different events last year. It is just wating on the school song. I couldn't remember all the words. So Sam is going to have to help me out! I want it to be perfect.

Goth Senior Album for my Favorite Graduate

I wanted to make something a little different than the average album. I wanted it to be edgy but pretty. I wanted it to be just like my cat. I asked Cat what color she wanted and she said, "Purple." There was no hesitation. Purple with a little red and black I figured would make a really cool gothy look. So I was searching around The Crafty Scrapper and found this album from Fancy Pants. The album has felt, acrylic, cardboard, cloth and mirrored pages. Just the unique mixture of textures I wanted. Then I saw the great paper that had been put over with some Twighlight themed supplies. I grabbed the Maya Mist and my Maya Road goodies and I was ready to go.

Since my friend Dee Dee got me started on these glittered flowers, I can't stop making them.

I told Cat to put the pictures she wanted in a shutterfly accoung. She had millions. I knew that each one was a special memory of her senior year, so I wanted all of them in the book. There was a problem because most were taken on her phone. Solution. I printed off tons of tiny pictures.

Since I don't normally put too many picts on a page, this was a little challenge. But I wanted the pages filled with memories and eye candy.

The felt page was fun. I put a Maya Road cut out page over it and misted with Pearl mist. Came out really cool. I didn't want to cover it up with picts.

You just can't beat UTEE for a cool effect. I wrote on the crown, misted then coated with UTEE.

I didn't have one of her mega cute senior picts, so I'm hoping that Cat will insert one here. I love the Maya bling.

She has some cute little prom picts. There is a whole cool store about her prom and her one act play that I hope she will jot down with her sharpie marker.

This is the cloth page. It just soaked up that Maya mist like nobody's business.

Her graduation was so cool because the graduating class was so small. They had a slide show for each child and the grads gave roses to important people in their lives.

This is my favorite page. I knew it would be. I worked on it (really more like stared at it) for hours. I used the Maya wings as a mask and misted. The torn paper is a pocket for a cute little Maya Road envelope where she can put memories of graduation.

The last two pages are just covered with paper so she can take her sharpie and go to town.

I really like projects like this that push me out of my little box filled with boy stuff. I was really happy with how it turned out.

A Tea Party

Vanessa at Fanciful Twist is having a tea party and everyone is invited. Sam and I worked this week to make a little teacup garland to celebrate. Sam picket out his favorite Mad Hatter pictures. I had a little fun with some Maya Road Tea Cups that I bought at The Crafty Scrapper. I used paper from Bo Bunny and tons of stickles. Now we have a lasting momento of a fabulous time we had in the park.

Sam composed the story to go with the teacups.

Welcome to my tea party. I'm so glad that you weren't late. If you will follow me though the rabbit hole, we will be there in two shakes of a rabbit's tail This is my garden. It is filled with the most beautiful flowers. My friends and I love to come here on sunny summer mornings to start tea parties that last all day long.

Today we are having a little jasmine tea since I am going through a little Chinese phase.

Altering Away!

I have been away from the blog for quite a bit. It felt so good last week to be able to scrap away with my gals! When I go to a big crop like last week, I usually take a big project so I don't have to think about bringing a lot. When I was at The Crafty Scrapper, I saw these "Receipt Holders" from Seven Gypsies. It was different....so of course I wanted it, and I wanted to alter it.

I stared at it for about two hours. I thought, I'll get the needle nose pliars out and take them apart so I could cover them totally. Well....that was a no go....there had to be a better way. So, I cut the piece that went down the middle 2 1/4 " wide and slid it under the springs. Then I cut the boarder pieces 3/4" and punched them. I made a few notches so it would fit securely around the springs. I think it will look great in my classroom. I put several items from my retreat so when I look at it, it will make me happy all school year long.

Last year my good friend Sherri gave me this flash card that she found with my name on it. I have been waiting to find something special to do with it. I couldn't decide if I wanted it in my classroom or my scraproom. Since I had some extra supplies from my above project, I decided to make it for my classroom. Lots of Graphic 45 and Maya Road goodness.

I had such a good time making the receipt board that I made one for The Crafty Scrapper too! It is filled with a lot more Maya Road products.

Playing with Dominoes

This is a copy of the challenge I am hosting on the K2K Kreative Krew Blog this week.

I'm Brook and I am your host for Challenge Number Four.

I know you have seen those cute domino pendants at the craft show and on ebay or etsy. They are so easy for the digital scrapper to make. I want to challenge you this week to try making your own.

There are several ways to do this. I'm going to share with you the easiest way possible.

You need: A domino, a bead, maybe adhesive, mod-podge or spray sealer, and jewelry or plastic glue.

1. Dominoes are 1 x 2". So make a mini layout that is .75 x 1.75". I just print them on normal paper so they lay flatter on my domino. Then cut out.

2. I just use any kind of scrapbooking adhesive on the mini picture and stick to the domino. (You can use the mod-podge to adhere the picture but let it dry before the next step.)

3. Then seal with the spray or mod-podge.

4. Next I place the clear bead on the top with jewelry or plastic glue. I like Beacon 375 but any will do.

If you've seen some other tutorials, they talk about letting the dominoes soak in bleach or using alcohol to take off the finish of the domino. I don't think it is necessary for this project. If you like doing this and want to stamp or use alcohol inks then you will need to remove the coating.

You can also make your domino a little dressier by using a silver bail that you find at the craft store. The dominoes can be horizontal or vertical.

I made 30 of these for a friends party and they were so easy to make. Here is one that I made for me. This took me less than 30 minutes to make.

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Okay. Here is last weeks POD. I decided that I was going to start taking pictures with my iphone because it is so easy and I usually have it out. I don't have to reach for a separate camera. I'm trying to make this as simple as possible.

Well, leave it up to Sam to find the errors in the week before. He told me that the pictures were on the wrong day and that there were other things that were more important. So here are the remade pictures.

So, so far it looks like I am keeping up with all of this. It doesn't seem like it should be hard, because I carry a camera in my purse all the time. I'm always snapping pictures of this and that.

I'm going to go back and put some numbers down on the second page and fix a few snaphooos, but I wanted to upload because I was going to try to be a better blogger.

I'm sure many of you are getting a little tired of hearing about my new classroom. I can't help it! I am so excited about my room. I still have tons to share. This is my outside bulletin board as you are walking down the hall. You can't help but see it.

A few little recycled beauties from my old school.

I did update the number on my door plaque.

I added this little bit of fluff over my door. I just didn't want anyone to not know which door was mine. This is a really cool thing. Built into our teacher cabinet, we have two places like this to put bulletin board supplies or charts. I am using them for bigbooks. I also have a few little Maya Road goodies that I have made into hall passes.

As you can see, I have covered tons of chipboard and wood. The other day at the Crafty Scrapper, some ladies were wanting to know the best way to cover chipboard. Well, everyone has their favorite, but I can do this in no time flat. This is how I do it.

You have to have a glass mat and here is the key- the fiscars finger cutter. I only like the orange one. The new retractable one does not give me the pressure I need at all. You can cover the chipboard with modpodge or outline them with your favorite adhesive. Place your piece or pieces of paper on the chip board. Then turn the letter over so the paper is on the glass mat. Take your fiscars and trace around the letter. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. No problem at all. I then take my Basic Grey files and file them. Then I ink. I have been using Ranger Vintage Photo, but this last group was done with Brown Courderoy. I really liked the effect. If you want to do the other side repeat the process. It is important to sand one side before covering the other side.

My New Roost

Well... it has been a long time coming, but the Annette Perry Falcons finally have a new roost. Tonight we had an open house for the families and the kids come tomorrow for our first day of class in our new school. I just wanted to share picts of my room. I really am proud of how cute it turned out. I couldn't have done it with out my cricut and Maya Road Chipboard. I just snapped a few quick picts as I was walking out the door tonight. Tomorrow I will take some better picts.

If I were taller, you could see the cool stuff I have up there. I'm not, so you need to come visit me.

I am so glad to have all my books out of storage. I have 18 of these great crates filled with picture books. This doesn't even count the tubs of chapter books that I have around the room. New teachers, I'm telling you....this is where you should invest. I've taught 1st through fourth grade and I have used these picture books in every single grade level. I love this paper- Websters Paper. Of course, everything looks great on a little Maya Road chipboard.

Here is the valance above my huge window. Lots of Jenny Bowlin and again more Maya Road, this time the stars and penants. (I don't think they make this one any more.)

This is the view from my door. I don't know if you can tell but I have this really kickin' document camera, computer and projector on the black cart in the middle. It is so cool. I am almost totally paperless except for my books. I invest in ebooks and materials that are pdf files. I love technology.

Tomorrow I will take some more close-ups so you can see some more of the goodies I made.

The goal was to make it tasteful and cute without being cluttered. I have a lot of students including my own son who don't need a lot of distractions.

Oh.....I don't know if I told you. From my window, I can see Dallas to Maypearl I bet. The water tower behind my mom's house is in the very center of my window when I sit down at my teacher table. I like looking there and thinking that that is where my mom and dad are. TFL!

Just Wanted to Share

Before the holiday season was over, I wanted to share a little bit of what Luke did for school before the Christmas break. He had to make a concert t-shirt for his made up band. He had to tour Europe and visit several countries. He was in the Christmas Spirit, so he created a band called Polar Pudding and the name of his tour was called "The Proof is in the Pudding Tour." He is quite a whitty guy.

I am a terrible blogger lately, but I have had the most awesome Christmas ever. I'm hoping to have some time to scrap it later. I also never got around to printing and mailing out my Christmas cards so here they are. I may remake them and turn them into New Years cards LOL!

Boys Will be Boys

This is a great printable book by Dawn Inskip. You can buy it at Pickleberry Pop. It is so easy, all you have to do is download, print and color. Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy. Since I love doing the digi thing, I did add picts before I printed out the pages. I noticed I hadn't made a complete album of the boys trip to the Botanical Gardens so I thought this would be great. After I printed out the book. Sam and I colored it with map colors. Then we added ribbon, buttons, brads, stickles, glaze pins and stitching. We had so much fun. If you don't have boys that's okay, I think this book would be great for everyone. Dawn has a great fall book as well so be sure to check it out.

My Borrowed Classroom

Here it is almost October and I haven't posted picts of my class. This is my borrowed classroom. We will move into the new school in January, so I didn't go crazy in here. The room is cute, but the picts don't really reflect it all. It is refreshing moving from first and second grade to fourth grade writing. I don't have to have near as much stuff in my room.

The last pict is a bulletin board about me whenI was in fourth grade. I covered the board with a sheet and I had a seam so I needed to cover the seam. I used the star and all the ribbons to do it. Thanks for looking.

Ode to Val

This is a LO I did the night I got him. My Scrappy Valentine. Sam says, "He was the only one who would play with me whenever I wanted." His playful nature was something we could always depend. He always made me feel happy.

On August 7th at 2:30 Val was escaped from the house and was hit by a car. Sam and Cody witnessed the accident. Clay and I rushed home from dropping Luke off at band practice. Val was still so sweet even though he had been through such a terrible ordeal. I guess it was the shock. When we took him to the vet, he stated that there was just too much damage. It was a terrible choice to have to make. Sam and I said goodbye to My Scrappy Valentine. Clay stayed with him to the end. The rough part was giving the news to Luke. I think it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do.

We continued with our plans to take Cody back to college. So, we were occuppied for a few days. It was so hard returing home on Sunday. A certain energy seemed to have vanished from our home. It is very quiet. Our other dog Kipper seems to notice it as well. I'm just a little sad. I thought I would be over it by now.

Fun With Basic Grey

I had a little mini retreat with some great friends last week. I did so many projects and completed tons of LOs. These are a few that I made with Basic Grey. I love the wild colors. I really think that this paper was made for Sam's little Mad Hatter escapade last year.

Since I bought the whole paper pack, I thought I would use it all. So here is Val and Luke.

This "Faboo" LO is a little personal joke between me and Cody.

And of course, Sam is the coolest kid in my family. On the strips are written the things that Sam was thinking about that day.

Summer is Here

Summer is here and I couldn't be more ready for some rest and relaxation. We now have electricity and internet access so I am happy.

These are some LOs that I made last night while I was basking in the glow of my new found freedom.

This first LO is a new kit from Dawn Inskip called "Misty" and "Psychedelic Alphabet" that will be coming out at GottaPixel on July 1st. So glad I could get it early. I love the beautiful summer colors. Since my boys and I go to the Botanical gardens so much, I can see that I will be using it a lot.

This next lay out is by Kari Q using her new "Infinity and Beyond" kit at Plain Digital Wrapper. I believe it will be coming out on Wednesday.

If you are in the Fort Worth area, you may not know that there is a small museum in Firestation Number One that has the history of Fort Worth. My boys love going there. That is where we got the shots from the LO above.

I have tons of paper projects that I have to get uploaded. It just felt so good to get some digi projects done, that I had to share.

Well....I can't post all the picts from this 78 plus page album, but I can post picts of my beautiful ribbons. I just can't tell you how excited I was about this.

To tell you the truth, I didn't even think that I was going to turn the album in for judging, but since I am probably not going to be at my school next year, I wanted the last thing I did for them to be really special.

I didn't think that I had enough points for even a blue ribbon because our PTA is small and doesn't have some of the activities that others do, so I made some pages explaining what we had and what we didn't.

The theme this year was heroes. So I made sure that all of my journaling had to do with that theme. It was tough tying heroes in with the Zoo....but I managed it. It all paid off. I don't get to keep the ribbons or the historian book, but I have a picture.

A Bee's Habitat and Another Goody

After Carolyn from The Crafty Scrapper came back from CHA, she issued a canvas challenge to make a habitat. Well....after a false start, this is what I have come up with. I'm not sure that this is what anyone had in mind, but it is what I have.

There is a lot of dimension. The beehive has three layers and the top layer does curve.

The bottom grass layer curves as well.

I'm wondering if I need to do anything else to it.

I did make a LO using a photo that Marie Q made of my boys. I was very nervous about doing this because of the monotary investment. But I really wanted to make a LO for my scrapping area if it ever gets completed.

Been Busy

I realize I need to make a new blog header....I will probably get around to that this summer.

I do have picts of the LOs that I made with my Wesleyan gal pals when we retreated to Cedar Creek Lake- Melissa thanks so much for inviting me! It was a very welcomed break. Here are some of the things I did.

Some of you may remember that last summer I took the boys to Dinosaur National Park and Dino World so I would have an excuse to buy that really cute Basic Grey Paper. Well I did finally scrap. My problem is that I have a really hard time scrapping tons of pictures on a paper. But, I did it.

Tune in next time when I show you what happened when I was brave enough to scrap a Marie Q photo.

BTW....Here is a little LO that Sam and I made yesterday using Dawn Inksips Brand New Day and her new Clay Buttons. Sam thought they looked like Easter Eggs. So I did the extraction and he placed the elements. We had a fun time! Happy Easter Everyone.

Contrary to popular belief, I have made some LO lately.... I just haven't posted them. So I'll post some of my digi ones. Maybe later I will post some of my paper.

The first one is with Kris Myers' Natural Beauty Add on Kit.

The next one is kinda funny because it is Kari Q's Alyssa kit which is a baby kit. So I used it on the biggest baby I have. It really has some cool not so baby colors.

This was done with Kari Q.'s Natalie Kit. It is fun- just right for those Tweens. She does have another daughter, so I will be doing the other kit tonight.

I'm very excited to be a guest creative team member of Dawn Inskip for the month of April. I have been internet buddies with Dawn for a while. I have always lover her kits. The girl just has a way with a copic marker. I love her style. It is very unique.

The first LO is one of her older kits- Weather Station. I did this for a white space challenge at PickleBerryPop.

The next two kits used her Brand New Day kit. The first one also incorporates her Dates, Borders element kit and Paper Layers.

The colors are just awesome.

Ode To Recycling

Well....not so much an ode....but a bit of a collage of sorts. I was looking around the other day at my sad little shopping bag, and I thought, "Why can't recycling and saving the environment look gorgeous. So I did something about it. 1. I took a little shopping bag that I bought at Staples. I painted some of it yellow. Nothing uniform just splattered it all over the bag. Why yellow.....because that is what I had....remember....I'm recycling and reusing here. I didn't worry that the company's logo wasn't totally covered, because I was about to take care of that.

2. I had some G45 Fashionista paper that I had left over from projects. I also made a banner with my name on the computer. I inked them to death with vintage photo. I coated them with mod podge and just placed them all over the bag. Then gave it a nice coating of mod podge paying attention to the ends. If some of the corners pop up, I don't worry about it.

3. When everything dries, I used my big bite to add flowers and some brads. I will probably add some more buttons and bling....but I can't find my needle and I have to go to the store to get it. I looked around at any of the corners...If some are sticking up, just put a button or a flower on top of it.

I think it is cute little bag and so easy to make. Plus....I didn't buy a thing.

Favorite Class

So when Carolyn handed me the new bind-it-all coverals last night and said why don't you use some Graphic 45....I said okay. I needed another address book. So this is what I have made combining G45 and some Maya Road of course. Dh is supposed to be working on making me a light box so I can take proper picts of these books. This will be a class at The Crafty Scrapper. I will bet back with the dates. We may move some around and do this sooner instead of later!

Two New Classes at The Crafty Scrapper

I have been doing a lot of Bind-It-All Classes at The Crafty Scrapper. The next two months books are up. March's class will be creating a book with a different kind of LP than I have done in the past. We will be using LP from a car this time. Of course, the book is filled with several different techniques, inking, cuttlebug ect... it is on display at the store now and will be taught on the last Sat. in March. I believe it is the 28th. For April, we will be flipping out over summer with these great little flip flop books. We will make them using the Bind-It-All. We will be working with grungeboard, cuttle bug, misters, inking, stamping, rub-ons and some Maya Road goodness. This will be the last Sat. in April.

My G45 Goodness

OK...I think I have most of my G45 things in one place in case anyone from G45 actually looks at my blog. I'm just covering my bases.

Vintage Telephone Index, Opera Glasses and Case, Little Clutch and Pen Case
My Scraponizers that I LOVE.
G45 is great even for holiday LOs.
Contem. Picts look great on the paper too.
Boy LO's are great on the paper.
And...of course heritage photos.
This one had some fragment like diamonds. Fun to play with.
Lots of layering looks great with the paper.
Of course Maya Road always enhances any LO.
It mixes well with other papers.
Even works well with bling.
This is a class book that I taught filled with many yummy techniques. It is really a sampler type book.

I don't have to add a lot of elements....because the paper is so awesome and makes great elements on it's own.

I have been a terrible blogger.....my only excuse is that I have been busy scrapping. Here are a few things that I have done.

This is the new Moxie Paper that just came into the Crafty Scrapper. I made my own element using Rock Star Black from Ten Second Studio. I also used Maya Road's new little letters that are so hot and affordable and misted them with their new pearl color.

I was so excited when I saw the new Cosmo Crickent Snorkle paper and Another Fish in the Sea.

I used some Maya Road letters and some metal from Ten Second Studio to give some more dimension.

I combined the Cosmo Cricket and Some Ten Second Studio to make this fun Bo Bunny Arrow book.

These are LO's I made for The Amazing Digi Race.

This required 3 papers one in a shape, 3 flowers, two strings, three picts, two staples, five sentences, the word love.

This required a pict of me and Bobbie, my partner. It had to be mostly journaling about why we scrap. Bobbie gave me the words and I did the LO. We had to use the piece of word art.

I used this LO at After 5 designs as well...I had to use the phrase once upon a time.

On this one....I had to use all the elements of this kit.

Dreaming Valentine

This was Challenge Number 8 for the Amazing Digi Scrap Race. I had to scraplift my scrappin' hero's design....then I had to use a star and add the word "dream." I really liked how this one turned out.

This is a valentine for my son to give gmas and such. (Don't look Mimi!)

My Scrapping Hero is Kirsty Wiseman. Who has enjoyed her digital freebies. But she is also a great paper artist. I love all the yummy layers and mixed media that she uses. I chose to lift a great card from her Studio Calico gallery. I tried to stick to the LO of the card. Here is the LO I lifted:

Amazing Digi Scrap Race

Well...my friend Bobbie from Canada, who is also a member of the K2K design team, and I are partners again in The Amazing Digi Scrap Race over at Natural Designs in Scrapbooking. We are team 55 better known as The Killer B's. Anywho.... this race lasts for 6 weeks and is filled with lots of challenges. The challenges have you scrapping in ways you normally wouldn't. Here is what I have so far.

I Love All the Pieces of You was challenge one where I had to cut a photo in three pieces with little tears.
Rachel is a scraplift of the first LO I made over at Go Digital Scrapbooking. I had to use all the same journaling and three new techniques.
Sam Take me With YOU! had to have three fanciful elements. I used four....I'm an over achiever! LOL!Wonder was a LO with no pictures but with 3 frames. I so do not like LOs like this...but what can I say.

Boy was a funny project. I had to take one of Bobbie's LOs. Flip the LO and rotate it 45 degrees then make sure I used the same amount of elements when I scraplifted it. Really funny, but it turned out okay.

Well...I really need to get caught up on my 365 layouts and some Valentine projects I have started. Hopefully I will have something more to share soon.

365 Day Entry

Now, I'm not promising how long I can carry this off, but I have been doing a little photo taking everyday. The point I guess is to celebrate my everyday life. So somewhere down the road my great great grand children can see how things were in the good old days and begin comparing me with the cave men.

My pictures are not great by any stretch of the imagination. I tried to take a picture of what my mind was on that day. These first two LOs are for New Years day to the 8th. I don't really like that I don't have a whole week on one two page LO, so I'm going to have to fix that eventually. I'm going to do the weekend later today. Then I may put all of next week on one page so then I can start with one week on two pages. Like you really care about hearing all of my random thoughts. Oh well....I hope everyone has a great week

Some LOs to Start the Year

This is a book that I made for a class at The Crafty Scrapper. I will be teaching the class on February 28th. This is a sweet little KI composition notebook. I used my new Dream Cuts to create this really cute memory book.
I did some doodling and some Cuttlebugging.
I don't want all of Sam's picts to get messed up, so I drew some picts of him to help you visualize.
This is a page for friends. There is a place for four friend picts. Then you lift the flap to write about each friend.
This little page was made so all Sam's interests could be recorded and when we lift up each triangle, we will see Sam.

This is a pop-up box that will have pictures of Sam throughout the year so we can see how it changes.This is an accordian album where I can put all the picts from his field trip.
This page has many layers. It is a 3-D page.
This book is just a lot of fun. I love it!

Merry Tuba Christmas

My favorite new tradition is going to see Luke playing with the hundreds of other tuba and baritone players at Merry Tuba Christmas. In Fort Worth it is usually the 23rd of every year. You haven't heard anything until you have heard the Ukranian Bell Carol played by tubas. It is so fun for Luke because he gets to play the melody finally.

The composition on the LO is really very simple. There are quite a few products that are used in the LO though. I thought it would be fun to see if you could guess them all. The person who guesses the most (or in the case that more than one person guesses them all, I will have a drawing) will get a $5.00 GC to The Crafty Scrapper. I know it isn't much, but it is fun anyway.

BTW I hope that everyone has a very Happy New Year!

This is My Family's Happy Day

It was nine years ago today that I got to bring my teeny, tiny, little Sam home today. Sam was born on Oct. 19 such a mini guy with a great big personality. He was 3 pounds and 12.4 ounces when Luke and I brought him home. He wasn't supposed to be home until after his due date of Jan. 1st. We were so lucky. I knew the second we came home that everything was going to fine.

This picture was taken the day before we brought him home. I took out the outfit today and looked at it. It is totally too small for my old Baby Tender Love doll that Santa brought me when I was six. Look at that face. He was such a little imp even then. Looking in those eyes lets you know that he is busy thinking. I did this LO a few months ago at The Crafty Scrapper. Just thought I would share.

Scrapping for the Classroom

Even second graders can scrap and have fun doing it. This is how we did it. We used Tim Holtz grungeboard bracket, Jenny Bowlin calendar, Ranger white pen, a picture, chipboard from the back of the writing tablets, some paper and ribbon from my stash. All the kids made one for their family. They were very excited!

I do have to say that I have wonderful boys. All very smart and talented. I am a lucky woman. Well....I want to crow a little about Luke, my tuba boy. He was a member of the All Region Band. Many tuba players auditioned, but only a few were chosen. My guy was one of the chosen. We always have a good time at these concerts. We did some goofing around with the camera as well. Luke is a very good sport. Like the tuba players I went to school with said, "Tubas are the bases of the universe!" (Kit from we are storytellers)

Well...I've been married 20 years today. But....no gift for me. Instead, my son got the most awesome gift in the mail today from his friends LeRoy the Sealion in England and Monkey in Dallas. Now...if you are not a huge football (soccer as we call it on this side of the pond) fan you may not understand Sam's excitement here. This is an official jersey for England's National Soccer team. Note the Three Lions on the patch. He is also very impressed with the metal golden star above the patch. Sam is in soccer heaven. He wanted to wear his jersey out in the fog and go kick the ball around in the mud. The mother in me did tell him to hold off until we have drier ground. So today turns out okay because seeing Sam this excited and happy made my day! Thanks LeRoy and Monkey and all the Sea Lions. We love you!

Christmas Cards

Well...when you have boys like mine. Something normal just won't do. I wanted their pictures in front of the tree looking like they loved each other. But...they had other ideas. Picture quality isn't great...but this is the picture that they wanted on the card this year. So I added some digital elements from Weeds and Wildflowers and if I do say so myself some whitty wording and here is our card. I would love to send one to everyone but alas....I don't have everyone's address. Send me your address and I will send you a card.

Non Traditional Papers

I love using non traditional papers on my LOs. I hardly ever use baby paper for baby LOs....so why should Christmas be any different. In this LO, I used the Graphic 45 Playtime paper, some Maya Road Chipboard letters and some stickles to create the holly.

I have to say that I am a sucker for the cuttlebug and embossing the Maya Road chipboard. I then used the distressed stickles which I just love to make the holly leaves. TFL.

Christmas isn't Just Red and Greem

Christmas colors for the last two years have been really colorful. For my boys, I normally stay with the red and greens. But this year, I am making a gift for one of my cousins. She has a little girl that will look great on these pages. I had a Maya Road chipboard pages left over. I used them as the covers for this little book.

I really didn't have primo lighting...but I hope you can see the cuttlebug embossing and the tons of inking. It was fun to make something out of the ordinary for me. Thanks for looking.

I just can't get enough of this Maya Road petal book. I also adore this Cosmo Cricket paper. It is so yummy.
I spent a weekend at The Stolen Moments Inn. I love it there. The weekend was filled with some family drama....but I was there long enough to work on some Christmas presents. I don't know if anyone in my family will really like getting the mini books that I made....but....I make them anyway.

OK....have I said that I love Maya Road products before? LOL. Well I have to say that my most favorite bit of chipboard, has to be their flower petal album. I have used this book for everything but a flower! It makes awesome ladybugs, bees....so it makes perfect sense to me that it would make a great reindeer. What do you think?

The Crafty Scrapper, has gotten in so many great Christmas lines. I tried to use bits and pieces of several of them in my little book. When I saw this paper with musical notes, I knew it had to be mine. Christmas is all about the music for me! The title of the book is "Christmas Together"

Here I was enjoying using some techniques I learned at my Wendy Venchi class last month. I am so digging the cuttlebug and inking everything in sight!

The two little reindeers kind of remind me of my dear hubby and myself! Well... the plan is to fill this with pictures of us through the years on Christmas. I can't wait until it is all filled and I can share it with him! Thanks for lookin'!

Boo To You!

Well yet another Halloween is over. I have to say that this was the worst Halloween for Costumes. You can see Luke above as Charlie Brown. He wore this for the Band Scare. But....he lost it and couldn't wear it to trick or treat. He put on his grandpa's hat and called himself Hunter S. Thompson so he could go out to get candy.

Sam was another story. I wrapped him up beautifully as you can see above and I took some pictures of him. I felt that his legs were a little saggy, so his dad said that he would rewrap him and make it work. Well...his legs didn't even make it to the first house. By the time he got to the end of the street...he was practically naked. So after one street..we had all had it and went to eat at our favorite neighborhood joint for a bite to eat.

Cody tells me that he went to a party at school. He said he would get me some pictures, but I'm not holding my breath. I hope everyone had a happy Halloween.

Girl Friend Album- Again

Girl Friend Album

Over at The Crafty Scrapper, I hosted a Girl Friend Page swap. We had a fantastic turn out! Everyone went way out and made the most wonderfully detailed pages. I have close to 25 pages that I will treasure forever.

This is the cover for the album. My LO was titled "Whose That Girl." So....I continued that theme on my cover. I used some Sassafrass Lass and some Maya Road that I cuttlebugged. I like it. Hope you do to. TFL!

FYI- I know I misspelled a word on the cover. I fixed it in real life....but I didn't feel like taking new pictures. Call me lazy.

I have had so much fun playing with Maya Road, Ten Second Studio Metal and the Cuttle Bug.
These little houses are just so much fun to cover. The price is right....so you can have one for every season.

I used the Maya Road House and the New Border pack as well as many of their ribbons and Mist. I really wish that you could see the little bat flying above the house better.

SASSAFRASS and Maya Road

Can I just say that this paper is amazing. This paper is like my childhood! Fun, fanciful and busy! When it came into the Crafty Scrapper, I knew that I had to use it. Now, this paper was so awesome that it didn't need a lot but, I did have to add some Maya Road to my LO. I used the LOVE from the key chain set sprayed with the new copper mist. I embossed the sheer flower with black embossing powder and curled it with the heat gun. I ran the wings from the key chain through the Cuttlebug and embossed them, then inked them. I took some of the oval scallopped sheers and freehanded some clouds out of them. Then of course I added my sweet boy. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Chipboard Makes me Happy

It has been a couple of weeks since I made this....but I did want to share this. I made this cute Little Yellow Bicycle book using their fun paper. I just love how it turned out. I haven't finished putting all the pictures in it. I just put some picts so you could see what it looked like.

I have to say that I love this company and it's paper. It is so much fun. I love the little skeleton men. I thought it went very well with the costumes that I made.

I also used some other papers mixed in....I'm not sure which ones they are....but Sherri or someone else will let me know.

I also have to say that these precious costumes were super easy to make. I took black sweat suits. Then I freehandedly (is that a word?) cut out bones out of felt. The bones were then glued down with some tacky glue.

The costumes were pretty durable and lasted two years.

But alas...the boys have grown...they cannot wear these bones any more. What ever will I do?

I've made the boys eagles, vampires, tigers, Zorro, Star Wars characters....what will I do? I really like using sweat shirts so if there is something else you can think of....let me know.

My friend Sara gave me this little beauty. She also told me I had to make a post today! LOL!

She gave me some rules....I hate to say that I am not very good at following rules. I am bad. I admit it. But when I started looking, the people that I heart reading their blogs....already had the little bloggy picture.

But I do want to say, "Thank you, Sara! I love you!"

Schools Days

I know that most of you have been waiting breathlessly for picts of my first day of school. Sorry that it took me until after the second day of school....but last night I caught up on some much needed sleep.

Well here Luke and Sam are in the dark...because we leave before the crack of dawn. I'm feeling a little silly and decide to join in the pict. Ever so attractive isn't it. You can't see that I have new hair....but you can see that I have a snazzy new OUTRAGEOUS jacket.

Well...walking up to room 29 you can see that you are welcomed.
You can see my atractive name plate that I made as well as my cool little clip.
This must be Mrs. Campbell's classroom. Are you noticing a little Maya Road here? It won't be the last. Also thanks to my friend Hiedi for the use of the Cricket! The letters were perfect!
This is the first view of my new second grade classroom. My husband said he thought I just looked at the classroom as a giant scrapbooking oportunity. He could be right.
There are little vignettes all around the room. Here is one with the stars above a bookcase.
Here is another about the file cabinets. There is a little cuttlebug action going on with the stars.

Oh! More Maya Road. The stars and pennants created a precious little valance about the two windows.More vignettes these are above the cabinets around the teacher station.

My Baby Takes the Next Step

A new life on his own. I am so excited for him! (I say through teary eyes.) I took him to the dorm and helped him arrange it. This is probably the best it will ever look. I guess I was spoiled. I went to a private college and had a huge room that was gorgeous. Cody...doesn't get that...but he is boys so he probably doesn't care.

Notice he does have Wacko, some assorted stuffed animals from girls and the original Barney are there with him to keep him company.

Any Way....I've put him into God's hands and I hope that Cody and Jesus have a good time together in college.

Have You Ever?

The week before last I was scrapping. I was so excited. I had the most gorgeous sketch! It was one of the bests I have ever made. I wanted to scrap some of Sam's kindergarten pictures. My problem was...I was determined to use the stash that I had actually bought to go with the pictures I had taken three years ago. Well...I can't even post the pictures because I so don't like them. This is probably the first time I am posting something with no pict..... Hmmm.. I will remedy.

Getting Ready for School

I really love this Graphic 45 paper. I think I used every single paper from the line on this layout. I wish my camera could have taken some great picts of the layers.

This picture is of me after my mom gave me a little trim. (My hair was around my hiney! LOL!) Such an experience that to this day I will not tame a pair of scissors to anyones hair.

I was looking through my blog and realized I have never shared my mom's new craft cottage. It is just a little place all her own where she can create and dream.

Let's knock on the door.

"Come in, come in!" Mom says. "Why don't you stay and make yourself comfortable?"

When you first walk in, you see her machine ready to sew away. Pockets for her embellishments and stickers. Plus her great monograms.

I love the details on the monograms. There is a little something to represent each of the special people in Mom's life.

My mom covered the top of the shoe bag. Too cute!

My Daddy made Mom this great little table the perfect size for making cards or layouts.

My mom made the cute little curtains.

One thing about mom is that I can always count on cute little whimsical details. I wonder who Mom thinks of when she sees this cute little angel.

Two sweet little birdies. Sam loves these guys.

I love all the pin cushions that she is making. The mouse is precious. There is also a donut that I can't believe I didn't get on film. The little bird's nest are too cute.She also has some new crafts that she has made just for me to go in my new classroom!

This is a little sitting area. I think a comfy chair is soon to come. The area is perfect for her cutting table.

Mom has a lot of storage for all her materials and supplies.

My mother and father have worked really hard to make this happy spot. It is a great little place. I think every crafter needs a place like this!

Crafty Scrapper Challenge and Brook is a Winner

Over at The Crafty Scrapper, they are having a challenge. There are these awesome kits filled with fun paper, lace, ribbon, letters, cards and buttons. All you have to do is buy the kit and send a picture of the LO to Sherri or post it to the DT blog. Then a winner will be picked for a $25 gift certificates to The Crafty Scrapper. What a treat! Now...I'm not in the running for the GC, but I played along and this is what I came up with. This is my little Sam when he is 2 mos. old 3 pounds and 12 oz getting ready to come home from the hospital.

Since he was an early bird...I started thinking about songs with birds....and "Close to You," came to mind. When I grabbed this picture, the due date predictor wheel was attatched to it. So...I added it too! The journaling is on the back of the cards that are hanging from the ribbon in the birds mouth.

I AM A WINNER! I just won a custom digital kit by Danielle Young. She asked for ideas and I gave her a humdinger of an idea for a kit! I can't wait till she is done with it!

I have to say that this company is my absolute favorite line! Graphic 45 rocks! This new paper is awesome.

I hear people talking about their style of scrapping....and I have really never had any idea what my style is. But if I had to say I had a style...this would be it. I have no idea what it is called...but this is what I like.

I just made this LO about my son Luke. We were watching the Lunar Eclipse last Feb and he he was just pondering what was beyond the stars. I just glanced over at him sittling in the chair watching tv and he looks so much older now. It is amazing how quickly they change.

I had fun playing with this kit "Space Fanatic" it was made by Andrea Gold. She has been making such fun kits to use with kids lately.

On the tag he asked me what he thought was out there. On the bigger piece of card stock...I put the definition of a lunar eclipse.

Rocket's Red Glare

Here in Fort Worth, Texas....it is a no no to set off fireworks. When we went to visit my brother and his family we were so suprised. The Fourth of July is like something out of a movie. The town had a big fireworks display. Each of the neighborhoods had a display. The churches had displays and all the families on the street were setting off firworks. I sent my husband to the fireworks stand to get my guys some so they could share in the joy!

Make a Cake

When we visited my baby brother in Arkansas. I was able to play with my two nieces. One of the highlights of the weekend was when Sam and my nieces guided by my SIL made a lovely cake for my brother.

The kids all worked very well together. What I love in these pictures is that my little Rachel is so involved in the cake making process. You can see that her sister is helping her so sweetly. It just really warmed my heart! My precious niece has autism. It is really hard to understand what these families have to go through on a daily basis. I used Cosmo Cricket "Hello Sunshine" and Simply Luxe papers , Thickers alphas and Petaloo flowers and some great buttons that I got from Pursley Discount Fashions in Duncaville. It is the lace, ribbon and button wonderland. I could literally spend hours playing in the buttony goodness!

Our House by the Sea

A book of seasons...is the name of this album that I made the other day at the Crafty Scrapper. The album is a sheer house from Maya Road. I really love the look that the sheers have when you place paper behind them. The papers I used today were mainly from Creative Imaginations, but also from Flair and K&Co lines. It is all so easy to write on these sheers using a Slick Writer. And every once and a while, I have thrown in some Icing from Glitz.

Since I so do not have a house near the beach....I used the pictures of my Uncle Jim's family. He sent me precious pictures of his family all through the year on the beach. I hope you enjoy them.

What Have I Been Doing

One of these days I will get a great camera and build me a little place to take pictures of my LOs. I apologize for the quality of them...but I just wanted to share.

The first LO is a LO of Luke on his band trip. He had never tried Zots candy before. So in the second picture there is a little shock. The third picture has some great foam in the mouth. This paper was so much fun. I love that the die cuts have chipboard that fit them exactly. Luke loved the LO.

This LO is one that we took to Convention. Sporting some Luxe and Maya Roads chipboard. I loved playing with the Ranger crackle paint on all the chipoard letters and arrows. I used the Ranger misters and the perfect pearls to spray some shimmer on the trees. I can't keep the boys and the dogs out of the trees at my house. It is crazy!

This is another convention LO of my cute little cousin. I used Luxe and pink paislee paper. Maya Road Ribbon, Butterflies, Rubbons and Flowers. I also added glitz bling and some primas. She is just too darling. I was showing here that you don't always have to use card stock to mat your photos.

This cute little house was a class that Annette taught for The Crafty Scrapper at convention. I made one for myself to check out the directions. The directions were right on with great color photos. We used Maya Roads chipboard house with mini album, tree and key as well as felt pieces, ribbons and jotters. We used Pink Paislee paper and Ten Second Studio metal and tools.

The sparkle on the tree was made again with the Ranger Misters. It has to be my favorite tool!

This is a LO I made for a recipe swap at the Crafty Scrapper.

This is a sheer Maya Road album. I used the Cogsmo and Grungeboard to make this funny book about all the questions that Sam has. I called him on the phone to check on him and he bombarded me with questions so I wrote them down and scrapped them.

I played a lot here with some alchol inks. I'm really proud of my little saturn there in the corner. I was going for a spacey kind of feel with the alcohol paints. I'm goint to keep working on it.

This is an ATC that I made for a swap at TCS. Mega fun! We have been having so many swaps at the store.

That reminds me....we are putting together a Girl friend album for all the gals at TCS. This is what I posted on the forum.

The Crafty Scrapper is the best place in the world to scrap and one of the reasons that it is so successfull is because of all the girls and yes guys who come out to laugh, shop and share our experiences.We are going to have an awesome swap that I hope every single person will join. The purpose of the swap is to get to know each other better. Plus...in the end, you will have an album full of pages about All the Crafty Scrappers.

Rusty Pickle that is! LOL! This months paper sponsor at Scrap Shanty is Rusty pickle. They sent an acrylic tag album and Pop Star paper for us to play with. This is what I came up with.

This LO is like a digi Quick Page. All I had to do was just plop the picts down on the page. I did do a little altering.

Convention

I have to say that I had a blast working the convention. I had the most hectic and fun filled time meeting new people telling them about product and sharing my love for scrapping.

I didn't get there until day two. Here we can see Carolyn still looking quite chipper.

Here are some pictures of the booth. It was gorgeous, filled with eye candy and product. Sherri and Carolyn really out- did themselves on the design.

Here is the bain or our existance. There was a power surge and it took out cash register out. So for two hours while Nolan was out getting a new cash register, we had two calculators. We were counting out change old school. My brain has never worked so hard! Oh and did I mention even with a calculator, the line was wrapped around our booth?

Thank goodness for Ruthie. She stepped right in and helped us. She has a way with a crowd. She was calm cool and collected. Ruthie is my hero!

Nolan was a hoot! He was hawking for us. "Let's hear it for the Crafty Scrapper!" "Come on in to The Crafty Scrapper!" Plus he was putting n big plugs for the Waxahachie Chamber of commerce and tourism there on the square, so I think the whole town of Waxahachie owes him a debt of gratitude.

Once Nolan got back with a new register, he was able to get the old register working as well so we had two registers going!

Here we are at the end of day 2. Still smilin'.

Notice there are no pictures of day three. I only got out of the booth to go to the restroom and visit the bra ladies. (I needed to get two things at convention and managed to come home with neither!)

Carolyn decided to work the crop that night....so we did that. Here we are after the crop. Heidi is looking peppy still.

Joanna helped with tear down and the crop. Here she is helping Nolan load the truck.

Carolyn is all business here with Nolan's handy dandy all purpose knife.

By the time I was finished with only two days of convention....I was toast. It has taken me a day and half just to gather the energy to post about it. I'm tired, but still filled with my scrappy high! I hope that all the new friends that we made will join us in Waxahachie soon! It was really awesome to be part of the most popular booth at the convention!

Happy Memorial Day! I thought I would share a LO that I did the other day. This is a LO of my two great uncles home on leave from WWII. I had uncles in every branch of the service. During WWII, two were killed and two were injured. So on days like today, it is nice to remember those who came before.

Austin Concert

I had the most awesome and productive weekend. I had the fantastic opportunity to spend a free day at The Stolen Moments Inn with several of my good friends and my mom scrapping and creating. Thank you Susie for such an awesome weekend.

While I was there I created a few LOs. This first LO is for my Son's Band Competition down in Austin. I only wanted to use one page, but I wanted to use the
the four pictures. So I made it into a pull out and a flip boook.

The big star pulls out to show another picture. I don't know why I don't have a picture of it. I also see that I need to cover the back of the star.

I used Jenni Bowlin Paper and Simply Luxe. The stars are Jenni Bowlin and the treble cliff is Maya Road.

Lukes' band got a first division and was chosen best in class. I was so proud of him! I will be sharing some more LOs of him tomorrow.

I always feel recharged and ready to create even more!

Some of these were for challenges like the butterfly and the pink LO and in Sams mind. Cleanliness and the Big Organic flower and Luke in a tree were for Kris Myers. I did the play and explore for Andrea Gold. The rest were just playing around. I was kind of counting things up and so far for the 2008 year...I have done at least 115 scrappy projects. Not too bad. I still have the summer to go!

DT Canvas at the Crafty Scrapper

I love being me and I loved making this canvas. This was all about learning new styles, having fun espressing myself and sharing a bit of myself with all of you.

First off why do I love being me? I have seen God's blessing and miracles in my life. I have a precious little boy who just made the top score on a math bench mark at school. Great achievement in itself, but made even more incredible because his doctors told me when he was born at 1 pound 11 oz. that he wouldn't be able to learn and would be very sick. A miracle! I also have a beautiful boy who is about to graduate high school on June 10th. Miracle and a Blessing! And......my middle son is the most amazing tuba player who tells me he knows he made 100 on his TAKS test. What a blessing! My husband has been the love of my life for 26 years. A Great Blessing. Now....I get to scrap for TCS! I am very blessed.

Making this canvas was so much fun! Since I am a hybrid scrapper, I wanted to use the best of the digital and the paper world. My crown and wings are from my friend Fantacy Bryant. The button, list and leaf are from Weeds and Wildflowers. Then I added the Simply Luxe paper as a border and stickled it all over! I also Stickled my canvas. The B was a great project that Caroline from Maya Road shared with us during a make and take at the birthday crop. The chipboard was painted stamped and covered with UTEE and heat set. It was mega fun!

So...this is me...my blessing inspire me and fill me with such joy, that I just have to scrap about it!

As I sit here on this stormy night, I was thinking about how nice it would be for a little sunshine. So...I made a little LO of my new friend that I met at The Crafty Scrapper at the birthday bash. She is such a cute little pixie playing with her grandma's glasses. Grandma told me to crop her out of the picture so I am doing what she asked. (She may not want her pict plastered all over the web!) But this little munchkin is just too cute and sunny to pass up!

I guess I have just been a scrappin' machine. I have been doing blog entries for the DT over at the Crafty Scrapper. I have also been going to some awesome classes there lately! I am learning so much! Getting to talk to the artists who are designing new products has been awesome.

Yesterday was The Crafty Scrapper's 3rd anniversary. It was awesome! Caroline from Maya Roads and the gals from Ten Second Studio were out doing make and takes. It was so much fun! I cropped from 10am to 12pm. Carolyn and all the gals are always such gracious hostesses!

When I do my new scrap room. I am basing it around the Graphic 45 Cherrie paper. Well....Carolyn sold that line so fast...I was left scrambling. Luxe has a new line called Simply Luxe. You can use it to accent or coordinate with anything in your stash. So I grabbed the red polkadot and some vintage photo and inked. Now I think it coodintes really well with my Cherry Crossword Paper in the middle. My friend Sharon gave me this great B. I am pretty happy with the results.

While I am talking about Luxe, they are having a DT call. Don't know if I will do it or not, one of the categories is to make some jewlery. This is my attempt at jewlery. I have never made wearable art before. It was fun.

This is a layout of one of my favorite gals. She is at her daddy's b'day party a few years ago eating a blue cupcake! I used the new Basic Grey Cupcake and the Maya Roads chipboard letters and flowers. I covered the flowers with paper and bling. I painted the letters and doodled on them. The first d freehangs from a flower.

Who is this precious gal?! She was having a great time with her grandma at The Crafty Scrapper! I tell you, the place is fun for all ages!

Stamp Album

I have been on the look out for the perfect binder for my stamps. I'm a scrapper not a stamper so I don't have millions of stamps. My most numerous are my journaling stamps.

When I was at The Crafty Scrapper, I noticed this great Maya Roads Album. I thought it would be the perfect size. I painted it with red paint. I also added these great handles from Seven Gypsies. I made a hole with my crop-o-dile and just squeezed the little studs. Then handles can be placed on the inside or the outside of the album.

I was going to let Sam play with all of my stamps and take a picture of him for the cover, but I thought that would take too much clean up. So I extracted his picture in PSE4 and added digital doodles, stamps and paint to him. I used Weeds and Wildflowers "A Better Me" and the "Celebrating Color Series."

For the inside of the book, I took the cover of the unmounted stamps and scanned them onto a transparancy. I then cut off the title of the package and the vin. I thought this would be great to have in one spot in case I ever decide to submit something for publication. Then I wouldn't have to search for the information, it would all be right in one spot. The stamps cling great to the transparency.

When this book is in the shelf I can see the title on the binding. But, this book is portable. These handles make it easy to grab the binder and off I go. I plan to make one of these for each of my stamping categories. I may also make one for travel where I can just slap in the sheets of the stamps I need for the different crops.

With Maya Roads and these great handle from Seven Gypsies, the possiblities are endless.

Updates on Digi LOs

I've been participating in the ADSR3 with my partner Bobbie. We are The Killer B's. Lots of strange challenges this time. Most of the subjects, I would never scrap about and the elements, I would never really use in combinations together. But, that is what makes it a challenge. There is only one LO that I really like that I have done. Wonder if you can pick it out.

Feelin' Crafty on Spring Break

Sam saw this S at the Crafty Scrapper a few weeks ago and had to have it. So we decided it would be a great craft for Spring Break. We covered the S in tape. Then he dropped the paper on top of the S and tore it around the S. Then we inked heavily. Finally Sam chose the Jolee tiger and the phrase "Catch me if you can!" He was so cute! It was a fun day even if it was to rainy to be about!

Tagged Again

My friend Carolyn over at The Crafty Scrapper tagged me. I think the challenge is to tell seven unknown facts. I don't know if I have anything else to share....let me think.

1. I am a closet Lawrence Welk fan. When I was little, I never missed an espisode. I liked to sing to all the music. I've known all the words to those songs for as long as I can remember.

2. My novel of choice is a vampire romance. I don't know why. When they were little they scared the crud out of me. I guess I'm trying to prove that they don't scare me any more.

3. I am a Maya Roads Roadie. To some of my friends this comes as no suprise, but to others in the non scrappy world and my digi friends, you probably have no idea. I cannot get enought of the albums and chip board. I could alter them all day long and be happy never even putting pictures in them!

4. I hate my feet! They are too wide and too long for my short body. I think I should have been at least 5'7" to go with these big girls.

5. I didn't go to kindergarten. I started reading before I came to school in first grade.

6. One of my favorite childhood memories was when my mom's GTO broke down and we had to walk several miles back to our house. I thought we were having an adventure. I didn't know my mom was scared to death.

7. I am a great shot. I give my husband a run for his money when we do target shooting. I would be a lot better if I didn't close my eyes when I sqeezed the trigger.

Stolen Moments Inn and My Crafty Scrapper Friends

I had the most wonderful time this weekend at the retreat with my friends. We were in the quiet town of Maypearl where we cropped and created until 4 or 5 every morning. We took a little nap and started creating again. These are two of the LOs that I love. The first one is based on a sketch from the Getting Sketchy Site. I used a little Basic Grey here. I also used the new little misters with some pearl and a little ink to color these letters and swirls. They are really sparkley! Of course the stickles were used liberally!

The funny story is that my granny carried this cake across Texas on her lap and bought me a beautiful baby doll and all I wanted was the lollipop!

The next LO is my favorite of all time. It is of my Aunt Carolyn. She looks happy and beautiful! I made this LO all out of Studio 45. I love this line. I layered the paper on chip board. The dotted paper is covered with red stickles and dotted with black. The wings are stamped and the whole thing is on bazzil bling. The cherry tag says "fun."

After this weekend, I feel like I have my mojo back!

The Crafty Scrapper

The Crafty Scrapper is my happy place. It is the place that I love to go. If anyone asks me, "Brook, where would you like to go today?" I would say, "Well, The Crafty Scrapper of course."

The place has style and personality. The shop is exciting and ever changing. It is total eye candy and a joy for the senses!

But as much as I love all the stuff, it is the gals that I love. You can buy things anywhere, but you just can't get the personal attention and warmth from other places. The gals that work here are artists and they love what they do! The love for their is evident.

I love this add that Marie Q made for them. It really says it all for me. You can see all the great products and crafts but at the heart, the big picture, is that it is the gals that make the shop!

IF I WERE A T SHIRT

I did this LO as a challenge over at The Crafty Scrapper Forum. The challenge was "What Would You Say if You Were a T-Shirt?"

I thought about it and this is what I came up with..."Every Girl is a Princess." I truly believe this. I grew up believing that I was absolutely precious. I thought I could do anything. I think that every girl should grow up believing that.

One of my favorite lines in literature is when Sara Crew in "The Little Princess" tells all the girls that "Every Girl is a Princess." I believe this with all my heart. I really try to teach my boys to treat all girls like they are princesses. It doesn't matter what size they are, the color of their skin or hair..."Every Girl is a Princess!"

I have been being a terrible blogger. So much going on...I will post a few picts to catch you up!

Luke did an awesome job at Solo and Ensemble! I was so impressed and so proud! For his solo, he played "In the Hall of the Mountain King." It is a fabulous song. His ensemble played "Oklahoma." Luke wasn't keen on getting his picture taken, but the other guys wanted me to take their picts. One wanted me to take picts of his shoes! I wanted to crack up!

Sam has been going through a lot lately, so this happy day was just awesome for us. His favorite part of our trip to the beautiful Fort Worth Botanical Gardens was the huge pecan tree that was here when Fort Worth was founded. The roots are huge and gnarley! The best part for Sam was that the tree had hallow portions that were big enough for even me to go inside. He didn't understand why I didn't think that it was a great idea to go hang out with the possible wild beasties and other assorted creepy crawlies! He loves these pictures and wants to go back to see the tree!

On another note, a very special little gal, Belle Wiseman, has been going through so rough times too. I'll let her explain them to you. Please visit Kirsty's Site . I have been following Belle's challenges in life for quite a while. She has such an awesome attitude and zest for life. I feel like she truly deserves a chance for a better quality of life. Her mom and dad are fighting so hard for her. If you can help out, I know they would appreciate it!

Sam's Happy Day

LOL! I am so ditzy lately. I thought that Sam had an appointment today, so I took of work and got a sub. Then I realized late last night the appointment was for Wednesday. Well it was too late to cancel the sub, so Sam and I had a happy day.

We ate at his favorite restraunt for breakfast- Mimi's. Then we played at the Botanic Gardens and we had a great photo shoot. Sam is just awesome at setting up his own shots. He cracks me up. Then we fed the ducks and played on the play ground at Foster's Park. Next was a quick trip to Hobby Lobby and Michaels for a model airplane and on to pick up his brothers.

It was such a fun time. I wish I could have more days like this.

What Fun!

This weekend was jusst what the doctor ordered. I spent the weekend scrappin' and croppin' with some of my favorite people. I feel revitalized!

It started on Friday after work. Stacie and I picked up our friend Sharon from Oklahoma at the airport. We scrapped until late at night and crashed at Stacie's.

Then we went to a FANTASTIC 10am-12pm crop at my favorite scrapbook store THE CRAFTY SCRAPPER in Waxahachie, Texas. We had the most fun! Visiting with all the gals there is always awesome. Carolyn, the owner always has the best and newest. Since I am a total Maya Roads "Roadie" this is my favorite destination. Get this....the store is Wi-Fi so I was able to get Carolyn hooked up and she created her first Digi Page. It was just too fun!

But the fun didn't stop there. On Sunday, we all went to the airport to pick up another friend from Kerrville at the airport and the fun continued! We cropped Sunday night. Then went back to The Crafty Scrapper again so Sara could shop.

Cody in the Window

I was so excited when I went to Waxahachie on Saturday. Cody was displayed in MarieQ's window on the square. I hope that everyone will stop by and see it. He was really excited when I told him. He wants to take a trip to see it. I just can tell you how happy I was with his portraits Marie did an awesome job.
