I Can't Sleep Tonight

I can't sleep, and I don't know why. I had a really busy day. Got up early and took Cody shoppins so he could go to Hurricane Harbor. I took Sam and Luke to see Shrek III. Then I went shopping for P.J.s for the pajama crop at the Crafty Scrapper on Sat, and I looked for crystals for my glitzer. Since tonight was Grandpa's last night here before leaving for Costa R. for another three months, so we all went out to eat. So I should be tired.
Well if I can't sleep, then I guess scrappin' is the next best thing.

Okay I admit, I didn't make all of these last night, but I haven't put them all on my blog. I made three of them today and two of the yesterday. The others.......

Good News!!!!

I'm so excited. My friend Shari shared with me this great web site called Gettin' Sketchy. They were having a little contest with a sketch of theirs. I loved the sketch so I made a LO of my little Princess Lauren who I miss terribly. Well.......I WON! When Shari emailed me I couldn't believe it! Then I saw all the great LO in the slide show under my LO and I couldn't believe that they had chosen mine. It must be because of Lauren's adorable funny faces. You can check it out here. http://www.gettinsketchy.blogspot.com/

A Little Break

I've been working on writing some math curriculum. I'm tired though, so I too a break to work on some more of Sam's first grade album. I'm really trying to make this album simple and keep some consistency between the LO's so the pattern is really simple. But, I'm trying to keep it fun. If you have any ideas on how I can make it better let me know. Or if you think that continuing this LO pattern is too much, let me know. TFL!

Whoops I Missed a Few Days

These are a few of the LO that I have made over the last few days. I'm really having such a great time scrapping. I'm hoping to have all of Sam's first grade year done soon. I'm thinking that I might have them bound in a book. So that the other boys don't feel left out, I do a LO for each of them when I do one for Sam. Cody really likes looking at the LO's. Although he did notice that when I recolored the soccer ball in the pict below that I didn't recolor the whole thing. There is still a bit of blue. I told him that I thought that having a little blue there added some artistic depth. Oh well. TFL!

A Few Layouts to Post Before Bed

I had such a great day after my news from Scrapbook Chalet. Sam and I worked a little more on his scrapbook.

I also stepped outside my comfort zone and did this funky layout as part of a challenge for Scrapbook Chalet.

I'm so EXCITED

My pirate LO of Sam was chosen LO of the Day over at Scrapbook Chalet .http://www.scrapbookchalet.com/forum/showthread.php?p=70248&posted=1#post70248. This is so cool. I don't think it was so much the LO although the Paper was wonderful, but Sam's cute little face and that great little quirky smile. I feel very honored.
I have been working a lot on Sam's First grade Album and doing some other challenges, so here is what I have been doing.

This one when I reduced it didn't show up too good.

This is a LO I made with Kris Myers' "Sweet Butterflies." It's very simple. I'm not sure if I will keep the be there are not or if I need another B. Hmmmmm.....so much to think about.

TFL! I'm going to keep on creating.

My Sweetie

I'm missing my two nieces Lauren and Rachel. Today I was thinking about how funny Lauren is. She is always saying, "Auntie Brook, you are so silly." Lauren cracks me up! So I found this sweet kit and made a layout of my sweetie!

Thinking About Brandi

Lately I have been thinking a lot about my cousin Brandi. I really miss her. She is always busy doing her nursing thing and it seems like she lives on the other side of the world so we never get to do things together any more. When she isn't working, she needs to be with her kids. Every once in a while we get to see each other at family gatherings. I really miss some of the fun that we used to have together. So I made a layout of her. I used Traci Sims, "Lovely Paper and Elements."

I started thinking about when I first saw her. She is the first baby I can remember seeing. I thought she was beautiful. She grew up to be a beautiful woman. To this day, I still think she is one of the most beautiful people I have ever met. It isn't because of the way she looks (though I think she is gorgeous) but because of how she has struggled and overcome obstacles in her life. She learned how smart and capable she truly is. She will always be my Little Brandi, pretty inside and out.

I also made another layout of Sam using Kris Myer's "American Beauty." He is Long John Silver on Literacy Day at school. He made the hat himself.

A New Challege

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Today I got an email that said I had been chosen to be on the creative team for Kris Myers. She designs at http://www.scrapdigistyle.com/ . Her blog is http://nwfotobug.blogspot.com/ . I really like her work. She has done some cool things.

I've only been digi scrapping since February so I feel pretty honored. I have just have to make a few layouts every week and post them on some boards. Since I love creating, it really isn't a problem. I already have made two layouts.

A Day for Designing

I was able to spent some time designing layouts. I had a nice time. I created the Cody's first layout from the previous post and now I have a few more to share.

This layout is of my mom (the little one) and My Aunt Carolyn. During the summers, they traveled all over the US. Here they are watching some workers in their cute little sun suits.

I always had beautiful long hair when I was a little girl. One day my mom decided that she was going to trim my hair. Six inches and lots of tears later, I had this cute little page boy. My mom never trimmed my hair again. It must have traumatized me, because I never ever have cut my hair or any of my boys'.

This is a layout of me and my groovy dress. There is sime debate about this, but I believe that my Granny Dyer made this dress for me. I always thought that the material looked like it was curtain material. It was yellow, pink and orange. She had a little grocery store and she had her sewing machine there and made me a little dress to wear to church.

This layout was a challenge for digital freebies. I was to use the "Give a Dog a Bone" kit. So I decided to make a layout of Kipper. You can see my scrapping bag and some ribbon and some paper scraps on the floor, so those of you that don't think I scrap with paper any more can rest at ease. Any whooooo....Kipper is so funny because he sleeps at my feet when I scrap. While he is laying there, he dreams and barks in his sleep. His legs even run around. It cracks me up. He is a crazy dog!

First Job

I'm very proud of Cody. He has been working at Minyards since February. The hours aren't what he would like, but he has been going there. He gets his uniform together. He is there on time. He works the hours he is supposed to work. He does it happily. I think he is a good worker. I love to go by the store when he is working. He is very pleasant and helpful. It makes me very hopeful.

This is Hot

Today Clay dropped Stacie and I off at the Arlington Convention Center for the Scrapbook Convention. Man it was fantastic. A regular paradise if you ask me. If my feet could have stood it any longer, I would still be there. Stacie and I had a blast. The highlight was visiting with Amy and Carolyn of the Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie. They are the nicest gals. Their store definitely "Is Hot!" (Funny story about Carolyn may follow in the future."

There store is the best store I have ever visited. It is right on the square in Waxahachie. They have transformed the historic building into a haven for Scrappers. They are truly creative gals. There is none of that old tired paper laying around. Carolyn is a shop-a-holic and makes sure that she has the most up-to-date toys around. Their booth was rocking. We even met girls while we were eating that talked about how wonderful they were.

I really didn't think that I was going to be buying much.....but I did. Believe it or not, I don't have any scrappin' shirts. I bought two. One says, "Mom by Day...Scrapper by Night" (I also have the plate frame for the plates on my car to match.) The other says, "You better be nice or I will crop you out of my scrapbooks." I thought it was sassy. I bought some fun eyelets and brads, a purple cow, clear calendar stamps from Autumn Leaves, journal stamps from Limited Edition, 10 tiny clothes hangers, some paint, a few antique stickers, some monkey paper and a few RAKs for some friends. When I saw the sticker that said, "Teen Angst" I knew I had to buy it for Cody. I bought some Halloween clips for Sam and some great eighth note brads for Luke.
Clay was really a good sport. So I would really like to thank him. Stacie and I didn't have to worry about parking or hauling our stuff on the long haul to the parking lot. I hope that next year several of my good friends will come down for the convention. I think it would be a hoot to stay at the hotel next door, do all the crops and shop till we drop!

Feeling Kind of Productive

Well- I've had a week of summer. I spent the first part of the week taking care of young Cody's car wreck. I did a little house work. (Not as much as I should have done.) I made cards for my Pops card swap. I have made many digital layouts. So I thought that I would share some.

Well- I hope you ejoyed them. I have a class for two and a half days this next week. So much for summer. Oh well... It is the last thing that I will have to do.
